German Bank DKB to Offer Scholarships to Aspiring League of Legends Players

Deutsche Kreditbank AG (DKB) will offer a League of Legends scholarship to young talents!

It's safe to say that eSports is only moving ahead and gearing up to be a part of the mainstream industry. While media houses and sports organizations are jumping into the ship, various other industries are also showing interest in eSports.

Besides universities and celebrated athletes, now German Bank DKB has announced a scholarship program for aspiring League of Legends players who reside in German-speaking countries. The program is a part of their new partnership with the Prime League. Initial funding will begin in Spring 2020, in association with the esports player association, a non-profit organization recently formed with Deutsche Telekom with the goal of supporting rising esports players in Germany.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the release mentioned that DKB, a direct bank that is focused on digitalization - is focused on the “young and digital target group” found in eSports.

According to a report by Esports Observer, "The bank will feature in a mix of online and offline activations in the Prime League, which is Riot Games’ official League of Legends competition for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The competition already boasts partnerships with regional brands Barmer, Tchibo, ROCKSTAR Energy Drink, Deutsche Telekom, and R+V Versicherung."
