New proof of the forge mode in Halo Infinite has surfaced, characterizing it as a "fantastic experience." Since Halo Infinite is the most recent game in the series, the development team has had a lot of time to examine various market trends and determine whether or not they should be included in the contemporary Halo experience. This implied for a long that the game would eventually have a Battle Royale mode.

There are rumors that Halo Infinite's "Project Tatanka" mode is a PvE mode with triples, quads, and free-for-all matches that can accommodate up to 40 people. Tatanka was supposedly developed from 2020 until the middle of 2022, at which point it was shelved. The fact that the game mode's potential seemed to have been completely wasted disappointed players. Since they preferred Halo to stay true to its more conventional elements, several fans weren't upset that Tatanka was canceled. More proof of Tatanka's existence has now surfaced.

It was noted by players that Mike Clopper, the Design Director of Halo Infinite's narrative and multiplayer modes, made a brief mention of the game's Battle Royale mode—which was previously thought to be confirmed—on his LinkedIn page. Speaking about his own experience, Clopper said that he oversaw a team that worked on the Halo mode that was scrapped. He called the mode a "fantastic experience" and said he thought it would have been a "game changer".

Battle Royale In Halo Infinite Was Touted As A "Game Changer"

Many have interpreted this as formal confirmation of the speculations that Halo Infinite will feature a Battle Royale mode. While some players weren't overly surprised to find additional proof of this mode's existence, they were more intrigued to see that previous developers of the game were talking about it in any way. Following the discovery of this information by fans and media, Clopper seems to have changed the information on his LinkedIn profile. It now only states that he oversaw a team that worked on the multiplayer component of the game. Many found it thrilling that Halo was considering trying new things, and even if that part of the game has been shelved, fans and Halo Studios are still working on new projects.

While it appears that Halo Studios has given up on developing a Battle Royale mode, series fans don't have to stop there. As long as they have access to the game's Forge mode, they can develop their own Battle Royale mode for Halo. Fans who were hoping to see the series take a different approach to the genre can do so while also taking advantage of the most recent iteration of Forge.
