Recently, THQ Nordic revealed that a new Darksiders game is being worked on. Though its brief, mysterious teaser offered little information, gamers may anticipate a new Darksiders game, coming to the Playstation 5.

In the post-apocalyptic modern fantasy game Darksiders, players follow the exploits of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they negotiate the difficulties of a planet set to be torn by the powers of Heaven and Hell. Darksiders: Genesis was a prequel to the three major games in the Darksiders series, however most games in the series follow the adventures of other Horsemen in a succession of stories that run concurrently.

THQ Nordic has officially disclosed that an official fifth chapter in the Darksiders series is in development, following several years of fictitious leaks of the game. A new clip that appeared at the 2024 THQ Nordic Showcase opened with menacing rumbling in a recognisable room filled with ash and molten and burnt. Abruptly, the trio of skull-shaped sculptures burst into flames, unveiling the Charred Council, who collectively exclaim, "Horseman!" The game has been confirmed for the Playstation 5, but as the previous instalments are also accessible on these platforms, it is likely to arrive on the PC and Xbox Series X|S.

This Darksiders game has no official title yet and no information on when it will be released. Since most of the Darksiders games are puzzle-based action RPGs, it seems more likely that this next instalment would resemble the first three in the series rather than being a top-down action game like Darksiders: Genesis. It's unclear whether the upcoming Darksiders will carry on Strife's story as it was presented alongside the first game, or if it will serve as a fitting conclusion to the game's 14-year-old cliffhanger. That being said, this game is also being developed by Gunfire Games, a THQ Nordic subsidiary headed by former Crytek employees who created the first Darksiders before the company folded.
