According to a new PlayStation leak, the next Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 may be known as "Freedom's Flame" and will include a ton of content with a fire theme. While Arrowhead Game Studios, the creator of Helldivers 2, stated earlier this month that it would reduce the frequency of updates for the cooperative shooter in order to prioritise quality, it appears that players will soon have access to a brand-new Warbond.

Ever since Helldivers 2's surprisingly successful launch in February, Arrowhead has consistently provided battle pass upgrades for the live-service game known as "Warbonds." Generally speaking, these themed updates include new customization choices, weapons, armour, capes, and stratagems. In terms of revenue, the Warbonds in Helldivers 2 typically cost 1,000 Super Credits, or about $10 USD. However, real money is not needed to buy Warbonds because players can find and gather the Super Credits currency while naturally playing the game.

The Viper Commandos Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 was last issued by Arrowhead in June, however the developer stated beforehand that Warbond releases would happen more slowly going forward since they wanted to concentrate on the content quality of the updates. Surprisingly, though, a new PSN notification obtained by Reddit user ExoticBobcat777 suggests that the next Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 could not be too far off. The notification may say "Viper Commandos," but the description below talks about an unannounced Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 called "Freedom's Flame" that will presumably revolve around fire.

Turn up the heat to toast our adversaries of justice, Helldivers! The notice reads, "The Freedom's Flame Premium Warbond is deploying to your Destroyer's Acquisitions panel." Along with "fiery weapons, life-saving armour, cool capes, fresh emotes, player cards, and patterns," it also cites other things that seem rather usual for a Helldivers 2 Warbond. But the reference to stylish capes might allude to the eagerly anticipated arrival of the review bomb cape in Helldivers 2. Originally intended to be a joke, the concept got enough popularity for Arrowhead to design the cape and is now awaiting an appropriate release date.

Apart from the unexpected disclosure, not much is known about the Freedom's Flame Warbond for Helldivers 2. However, gamers could probably anticipate further fire-based weaponry to accompany the flamethrower, as well as possibly flame-resistant armour, in keeping with the game's pyrotechnic motif. The release date of Freedom's Flame is a little harder to estimate because Arrowhead has reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality updates, so it's possible that the next Warbond won't even launch in July. But given that the number of players in Helldivers 2 has reached all-time lows, it would be interesting to see if Arrowhead publishes Freedom's Flame anytime soon in order to revive interest in the game.
