An event series called the Esports World Cup was unveiled in late 2023, based on the Gamers8 series that had been in place before. The tournament includes matches between games like Apex Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, StarCraft II, Dota 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, EA SPORTS FC, Street Fighter Six, Tekken 8, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, RENNSPORT, and Counter-Strike 2. The Esports World Cup includes the championship series for each title, while each game has its own separate qualifying system. In addition to the game competitions, participating esports organisations who are a part of the Esports World Cup Club Program will also have access to a Club Competition. After its inaugural tournament in July and August of 2024, it will become an annual event.

Club Program

It was also revealed on February 1st, 2024, that esports organisations taking part in the series will have access to a Club Program for the Esports World Cup. Thirty organisations would be involved in the program beginning in the first year. Of these, six were chosen through an open application process, and 22 were invited directly. After the teams were revealed on 5th May, 2024, this was later increased to eight teams, for a total of 30 partnered teams.

A six-figure annual payout to support operations and teams' entry into highlighted titles at the Esports World Cup are available to selected organisations. In addition, these organisations have the potential to receive cash compensation contingent on their ability to increase attendance and fan interaction during the event.

Applications for esports organisations through the open application process were to be submitted between 1st February and 15th February. Afterwards, applications that were accepted had to present their work to the Esports World Club committee.

Teams must still meet the eligibility requirements for the Esports World Cup on their own; membership in the Club Support program does not ensure participation in the EWC competitions.

Club Championship

Twenty million dollars in prize money will be given to the top sixteen groups in the Club Championship. The victorious team will receive $7,000,000 USD. Teams that place in the top 8 of a tournament receive points toward the overall ranking; first place awards 1000 points. However, a team must also win at least one of the 20 tournaments in order to win the Championship.

All groups participating in the EWC, whether or not they are members of the Club Program, are eligible to compete in this championship.

To be eligible for points in the corresponding games, organisations have to declare a public roster entry to the game by 14th June, 2024 - 02:29 IST. The deadline was moved to 28th June, 2024, particularly at 02:29 IST, in consideration of Call of Duty events.

With the prize pools for each individual game and the Club Championship included, the tournament has a total prize pool of $60,000,000 USD.

  • The second place holder will take home $4,000,000.
