FUT Esports Clinches Valorant Convergence 2023 Title

Convergence 2023, organized by Riot Games and The Esports Club, came to a close yesterday 17th of December with FUT Esports lifting the trophy. The tournament featured 6 teams with four International and two Indian teams, boasting a massive $50,000 prize pool. It commenced on the 14th of December with the Group Stage in Manpho Convention Centre, Bangalore. The Grand Final was a battle between French side Team Vitality against Turkish side FUT Esports. 

Valorant  Convergence 2023 Grand Finals Recap

Part of the Valorant OFF//Season series, Convergence commenced with the group stage actions. A total of six teams were divided equally into a group of two. These teams fought against each other in a single round-robin format with best-of-series matches. The teams that competed in this tournament are as follows  - 

  • FUT Esports (Turkey)
  • Team Vitality (France) 
  • Global Esports (India)
  • Gen.G Esports (South Korea)
  • Furia Esports (Brazil)
  • True Rippers (India)

As mentioned above, the Grand Final was played yesterday. Let us move towards the match recap. The Grand featured a Best of 5 series game which went like this - 

Map 1: The first map of the game was Ascent. Team Vitality picked Killjoy, Omen, Sova, Jett and KAY/O. FUT Esports also picked the same lineup.  It was Team Vitality who enjoyed the lead by 7-5 in the first half. Later a 6-6 draw in the second half led to the victory of Team Vitality by 13-11. 

Map 2: The second map of the game was Sunset Team Vitality picked Omen, Viper, Skye, Raze and Cypher. On the other hand, FUT Esports picked Omen, Raze, Sova, KAY/O and Cypher. It was Team Vitality who dominated the first half by 8-4 but FUT Esports made it 3-9 in the second half. With this, they came out as the winner by 11-13 scores. 

Map 3: Lotus was the third map, where both teams clashed once again. Team Vitality picked Viper, Omen, Skye, Raze and Killjoy while FUT Esports picked almost the same lineup except Skye, they picked KAY/O. It was a total dominance from Vitality players as they made it a 10-2 lead in the first half. However, FUT Esports' epic comeback in the second half by 1-11 led them to victory by 11-13. 

Map 4: Both teams met each other on Haven. This time, Team Vitality picked Omen, Viper, Skye, Jett and Cypher. FUT Esports lineup included Omen, Jett, Brach, KAY/O and Killjoy. The first half remained a draw by 6-6 but later a 2-7 second-half performance led FUT Esports to a victory by 8-13. 

With this win, FUT Esports made it a 1-3 victory in the Grand Final and clinched the title. A total of $25,000 was accumulated by FUT Esports as they secured 1st position. Team Vitality secured 2nd position collecting $15,000, Global Esports and Gen.G Esports finished 3rd and 4th respectively accumulating $5000 each. Furia Esports and True Rippers finished 5th and 6th.
