Gen.G has set the VALORANT scene ablaze with the signing of Kim "Lakia" Jong-min, marking his debut in the VCT Pacific realm. This strategic acquisition plucks Lakia from the Challengers Korea circuit, thrusting him back into the tier-one arena.

Gen.G’s Roster For Valorant 2024 Season

With Lakia's inclusion, the Gen.G roster now boasts a formidable lineup:

  • Kim “Meteor” Tae-O
  • Kim “t3xture” Na-ra
  • Kim “Lakia” Jong-min
  • Kim “HSK” Hae-seong (Coach)

Lakia's arrival has ignited anticipation, leaving just two roster spots to fill in the wake of a substantial team overhaul centered around the core player, Kim "Meteor" Tae-O. Last month, Gen.G made their first move in the transfer market by securing Kim "t3xture" Na-ra from Global Esports. With a tweet exuding determination, Lakia expressed, "I will do my best!" – a promise that resonated with his fans.

Hailing from South Korea, Lakia is a household name in the world of VALORANT. His journey through various teams like NUTURN Gaming, DRX (formerly Vision Strikers), IGZIST, and Dplus KIA (formerly DWG KIA) has been nothing short of spectacular. Lakia's star ascended during his time with NUTURN Gaming, where he played a pivotal role in the team's qualification for VALORANT Masters Reykjavík in 2021.

Lakia captivated fans with stellar performances, challenging the heavyweights of the Korean scene and even international giants like Version1, Sentinels, and FNATIC at Masters Reykjavik. However, his stint with Vision Strikers in the latter part of 2021 was marred by a reduced role as a sixth player, limiting him to just nine map appearances over six months.

The 2022 season saw Lakia joining the Japan-based squad, IGZIST, where he played a key role in their remarkable third-place finish in the VCT Japan Stage 1 Challengers Playoffs. Nevertheless, he made a swift return to the Korean VALORANT scene, donning the DWG KIA colors and achieving victory in WCG VCL Korea Split 1 and 2, while also representing the region at VCT Ascension Pacific.

Now, Lakia reunites with his former GOSU teammate HSK, with whom he shared the competitive battlefield in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from 2018 to 2019. Furthermore, Lakia and t3xture have a shared history, having both represented DWG KIA in the 2022 VCT East Asia Last Chance Qualifier before t3xture's move to Global Esports.
