Team SMG has dropped a bombshell just days before the highly anticipated The International 12 (TI12) tournament. The Southeast Asian powerhouse, known for its formidable Dota 2 squad, has made significant changes to its roster that are bound to send shockwaves through the competitive gaming community.

Team SMG Signs Heen For TI12

One of the most noteworthy changes is the addition of Lee "Heen" Seung Gon as the team's coach. Heen, who previously coached Team Secret, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the table. With his arrival, SMG now boasts a coaching powerhouse that could potentially reshape the team's destiny.

Heen's credentials speak for themselves. He played an instrumental role in coaching Team Liquid to victory at The International 7 (TI7), cementing his status as one of the most successful Dota 2 coaches in history. His tenure with Team Secret in 2020 showcased his strategic prowess, and he played a key role in the team's dominant performances. In recent years, Heen's coaching prowess has been evident at TI10 and TI11, where Secret consistently performed at the highest level.

Leading up to these roster changes, SMG had become the center of attention due to swirling rumors about potential adjustments. Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov's inclusion as a stand-in offlaner was met with anticipation, and it is now confirmed. Masaros' inability to secure a US visa despite numerous attempts led to this change. Moreover, the visa struggles of another player, Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla, cast doubt on the team's lineup.

With the roster now firmly in place, Team SMG is gearing up to make its mark at TI12. The team's success will undoubtedly hinge on how well its members synergize and execute their strategies. Heen, who faced disappointment with Team Secret's failure to qualify for TI12, is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping SMG's gameplay and fostering unity within the squad.
