SumaiL "SumaiL" Hassan, the popular Dota 2 midlaner, has made a triumphant return to Team Secret as a stand-in player for the upcoming BetBoom Dacha LAN event. This move comes as Team Secret's Armel "Armel" Tabios takes a temporary leave to spend time with his family in the Philippines. The unexpected roster change has sparked curiosity and anticipation among fans and analysts alike.

Sumail Will Replace Armel in Team Secret For BetBoom Dacha

Originally not on the guest list for the BetBoom Dacha event, Team Secret secured their spot after Quest Esports withdrew due to visa-related issues pertaining to The International 12 (TI12). The tournament, set to kick off on September 10, 2023, in a LAN setting, promises intense competition among eight elite teams vying for a substantial prize pool of $250,000 USD.

Team Secret made their announcement via Twitter, expressing their elation at SumaiL's return and extending gratitude to Nigma Galaxy and Team Aster for facilitating this exciting development. The team's roster for the BetBoom Dacha event now stands as follows:

  • Remco "Crystallis" Arets
  • Clement “Puppey” Ivanov
  • Saieful "Fbz" Ilham
  • Daniyal "yamich" Lazebnyy
  • SumaiL "SumaiL" Hassan

This change in Team Secret's lineup comes in the wake of their tough loss at the TI12 Western Europe qualifier, where they clinched a fourth-place finish and narrowly missed securing a spot. Particularly poignant was the defeat of Dota 2 veteran Clement "Puppey" Ivanov, who relinquished his title as the sole all-time TI attendee, having previously participated in all eleven editions leading up to TI12.

SumaiL's return to Team Secret marks a fascinating twist in his career trajectory. Last year, he was part of the team for four months, only to be released following a string of less-than-stellar performances. After his departure, SumaiL joined Nigma Galaxy. However, his recent stint with Team Aster during TI12's China qualifier also failed to produce the expected results, despite high expectations.

The BetBoom Dacha event originally did not include Team Secret in its lineup, but their entry promises an exciting narrative for fans. The withdrawal of other prominent teams, such as Team Spirit and Team Aster, has made room for the likes of TSM and Evil Geniuses, adding an extra layer of unpredictability to the tournament's dynamics.
