Infinity Ward released a 40 GB new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. On the PlayStation 5, Black Ops Cold War, a current Call of Duty game, requires more than 200 GB of storage space. The same was true for Modern Warfare in 2019, which needed users to routinely download several hundred gigabytes of data. 

Modern Warfare 2 initially seemed to be the game to defy the trend due to its small download size. Even though the original game only needs 35 GB of disc space, users must install numerous packs for each of the game's gaming modes. The two campaign packs in MW2 require a total of 16.7 GB; multiplayer and the Special Ops co-op mode also demand additional storage. However, it appears that MW2 will keep getting hefty patches given that Infinity Ward has already released an update with a large download size. 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has received a 40.156 GB update, according to the PlayStation Game Size Twitter feed. Users must also download brand-new patches for some packs; for example, Campaign Pack 1 requires a 9.025 GB update, while Campaign Pack 2 requires a 7.118 GB upgrade. The ultimate figure may vary depending on the platform and area as update 1.03's 40 GB download size is solely for the PS5 version. According to PlayStation Game Size, the new download size for the entire game on PS4 is currently 61.040 GB. 

Fans who buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be able to access the campaign before the game's official release date on October 28. After the campaign is over, players can gain further incentives like operators, cosmetics, and other in-game stuff. Some gamers encountered difficulties with the MW2 campaign during their playthroughs, which stopped them from completing objectives. Therefore, this significant update may fix the game's advancement issues as well as other flaws.
