Square Enix's latest offering of Triangle Strategy has been out for only a few weeks and, according to reports filtering in from the game developers, it has been a huge success.

It has sold 200,000 copies in Japan/Asia and nearly 800,000 worldwide, according to a tweet. The number includes both physical units and downloads. This is huge news for the new Square Enix game, and it could pave the way for a sequel in the future.

Triangle Strategy is a strangely named game with little information about it other than a couple of samples. Despite having a graphic style comparable to Octopath Traveler and being a Team Asano project, it is not tied to any specific gaming universe.

Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default II, both of which were hugely successful in their own right, were also created by Team Asano. Octopath Traveler sold 1 million copies in its first month of release, putting the game of Triangle Strategy in good company. It can be difficult to persuade gamers to try a new IP, but Triangle Strategy offers a familiar look and feel that will appeal to players used to Team Asano's previous offerings.

It also includes many endings and a large number of characters to unlock and game modes to choose from, which is a great way to keep the players engaged. Combining this with good gameplay and an incredible story, all the while teasing fans with a pair of demonstrations that teach them how to play, Triangle Strategy is surely a game that can have players investing time in the game without chances of being disappointed.
