The animated series based on Riot's popular MOBA game is now in production for its second season. Arcane, the League of Legends TV program, premiered on Netflix earlier this month to wonderful reviews and high viewing figures, so it's no surprise that the streamer has renewed it for a second season, with the main cast returning.

During the two-day Undercity Nights events yesterday, Netflix and Riot Games confirmed the renewal. Riot has published a short trailer for the new season, which doesn't reveal too much about what to expect in the animated series' second season. Those that know more about League of Legends lore might be able to glean some interesting information.

Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, and Katie Leung will reprise their roles from the first season of Arcane in the show's second season, according to Deadline. Season 2 is presently under production, with no estimated release date.

Arcane on Netflix is a prequel to the original MOBA game, telling the origin stories of various characters, including Jinx and Vi, sisters.

During that same event where Riot announced the new season of Arcane, the publisher also revealed the first gameplay of its next big LoL spin-off, the fighting game codenamed Project L. Riot has also been in the news recently as it continues to drag its feet during ongoing investigations by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing into its history of workplace gender discrimination and sexism.
