The beloved gothic fantasy series returns to Apple Arcade with Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls. Konami,
the developer and publisher of the side-scrolling game, has announced that the game is launching on iOS
and Mac via Apple Arcade. The game was announced in 2018 and then released in Canada in 2019 but
got delisted last year.
The game includes a variety of single-player and multiplayer modes. It also incorporates role-playing
elements, such as character growth and an experience-based system, and the use of in-game currency and
micro-transactions. When it was released, those who could access it became popular and gathered
enthusiasm for its loyalty to the visual and musical palette of the series.
Still, it was criticized for some of its in-game micro-transaction elements. The side-scrolling action game
features character designs from Ayami Kojima and music from Michiru Yamane, who was involved in
the early and iconic projects within the Castlevania franchise. The playable characters include a troop of
classic faces from franchise series history, which provides for Alucard, Simon Belmont, Charlotte,
Shanoa, and Maria.
The Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls game features the original story in the Castlevania Universe. It is set
in the backdrop of the world where Dracula has been sealed away. The game promises a convenient
generous slice of the gothic action. The focus is on the adventures of Genya Arikado - Alucard's civilian
persona. It is because he was the one who attempted to stop the impending resurrections of the Dracula.
The Grimoire of Souls opened from the view of Arikado, who learns of magic grimoires that hold details
about the sordid history of Castlevania. Genya Arikado receives a letter informing him about an item
called the Grimoire of Souls, which bounds him to return to his father Dracula's castle.
The players will have to fight Dracula's army. The game's recently launched App Store listing promises
60 levels of gameplay. The levels are full of various equipment- slash, whip, and blast weapons. It is
along with some of the daily and weekly missions and quests. There is also an all-new playable hero,
apparently on the way.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was released as a free-to-play title for iOS and Android in 2019 as a soft
launch on mobile but never made it outside Canada a year after launch. The developer and publisher,
Konami, announced back then that they were to pull the plug on the title due to low player interest.
Though there is no confirmed new release date for Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, it is stated as "coming
soon" So players gear up for the feverishly anticipated experience of the gothic world!
