Destiny 2 for the most part is a PvE-focused game, however, it also has a great PvP experience to offer. There are various PvP modes and maps and even sometimes special events regarding the same. Anyway, now it seems that Bungie is working on a new PvP map. And, that is definitely exciting news, as a large part of the community focuses more on the PvP than the PvE aspect. However, the caveat here is that it is not coming very soon, well not until after Season 16 from what we know so far.

The PvP players have been desiring major updates on Destiny 2’s PvP aspect for a long time now, now one of Bungie’s developers finally delved into some details on what we can expect from Crucible (Destiny 2’s PvP mode). To put it in brief, there are going to be a lot of changes, that would be changing the PvP foundation. However, as I said before, it is not going to happen any time soon.

Assistant Game Director, Joe Blackburn says that in the first half of 2021 the team has been working on the PvP foundation. But, now the team is spinning up teams on new maps, and new game modes. The team believes that this investment is going to take some time, so there is a good bit of time before we see these in the game. The ultimate goal for all of these new changes is consistency. For PvP players, there will be new maps and new modes, and there will be a learning curve for this new stuff.

In solid terms, we'll be getting two Destiny 2 Vaulted Maps in Season 16. These maps are likely to launch alongside the Witch Queen expansion. (Although that is not a fact, with the delay of the Witch Queen). We're getting a new map in Season 17. Then, in Season 18, a Destiny 1 map will be remastered and added to the current rotation. So, overall, things are looking pretty good for the future of Destiny 2 PvP.
