At this point in time, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege is one of the most popular tactical team vs team FPS games out there. The game does not only have an active, and large player base, but also has a big eSports scene. Along with CS: GO, and Valorant, this game makes it to the list of the most popular tactical team-based FPS games out there. However, among various factors, something that separates Rainbow Six: Siege from the other two is that it is paid, and the other two are not. Now, it seems like it will be just like this at least for the nearby future.

Rainbow Six: Siege has had a ton of free to play events so far. Especially during the end of a season. Many started to believe that the game is soon going to be made free to play forever. However, it does not seem like that is going to happen. Well, most definitely not going to happen any time soon. Ubisoft has confirmed that there are no plans for this paid game turning into a free to play one. Despite being six years old at this point, the game still is as popular as it ever was, if not more popular.

Being a paid game, it definitely makes a lot of people hesitant to try it. However, thanks to the multitude of free to play weekends and events, it is not that bad. Game’s director Leroy Athanassoff did say before that they want to make the game accessible to everyone. This indirectly means that the game would be going free to play. However, now things have changed a lot. Associate game director, Aurélien Chiron while talking about the current state of Rainbow Six Siege stated that there are no plans to make Rainbow Six Siege free to play as of now.

So, if you were waiting for the game to be free to play, then it seems like that is something for which you are going to have to wait. It is most definitely not happening any time soon. While the team is looking to make sure that the game is getting more accessible, it is not going completely free to play.
