DOTA 2 has The Internation every year. For those of you who are unaware, The Internaional, or TI for short, is Dota 2’s regular annual championship series. This year there is going to The Internation as well, it will be The International 10. Initially, it was set to run in August 2021, and the location was decided to be Sweden. However, due to some recent changes, it seems that both the date and the location are now up for a change.

In a new announcement, Valve has said that “We are grateful for the partnership we have formed with Romania and the city of Bucharest, and very much look forward to gathering with the global Dota 2 community, both in-person and virtually, to celebrate the elite players and amazing fandom at The International”

This drastic change happened due to Swedish officials. How so? Well, they decided that esports could not be classified as an ‘elite sporting event’. How would that affect the whole event? Well, that means that the players and the teams cannot get visas. So, now the location, and obviously, the date are both changed.

The new location is now going to be Bucharest. The International 10, or TI10 would be taking place in the Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania. And, as for the date, well it will be in October. To be precise, it will be on October 7, 2021.

So, yes due to the decision made by Sweden’s officials, DOTA 2 TI10 is now postponed to October, and even the location has changed. But, what has not changed is the price pool! The prize pool is still a whopping 40 Million USD. Did you know that DOTA 2’s The International has always had the record of having one of the highest, if not the highest winning prize pool when it comes to esports games? Even now The International 2019 has the record for the highest prize pool that a video game had ever at 34.33 USD! Just like every year, the succeeding TI, in this case, TI10 would be indeed breaking that record.
