The Asus ROG Strix XG43UQ now also has a "Designed for Xbox" certificate. After Philips, Asus is also launching a "Designed for Xbox" monitor, with the boundaries between monitor and television becoming increasingly blurred. Asus XG43UQ is more likely to pass as a monitor due to the lack of a TV tuner, even if the device is already 43 inches. You already know the monitor - it is the device announced in March 2021 that has now been awarded the Xbox award.

Introducing the ROG Strix XG43UQ Xbox Edition.

The ROG Strix XG43UQ Xbox Edition includes a built-in Xbox mode and Console mode to enable the very best visuals when paired with Xbox Series X or S.

As a result, the 4K UHD panel of type VA with 3840 x 2160 pixels, which measures 43.4 inches and has a repetition rate of 144 Hertz, is used. Otherwise, the values of the device read properly on paper: 1,000 candelas per square meter of peak brightness, 4,000: 1 contrast ratio, 10-bit colour depth as well as 90 percent DCI-P3 and 125 percent SRGB are named by Asus. In addition to a Displayport 1.4 with DSC, HDMI 2.1 is also installed, which means that the mini monitor also covers all the features of the new generation of consoles. Thanks to DSC (Display Stream Compression), 4K UHD is possible at a full 144 Hertz at the display port - the compression does not promise any visible effects on the image quality. The two HDMI 2.1 connections are also suitable for 3840 x 2160 pixels at 144 Hertz.

The ROG Strix XG43UQ is the world’s first HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor, which supports the next-gen console 4K @ 120Hz gaming experience.

Since Asus aligns the ROG Strix XG43UQ monitor for gamers, VRR should of course not be missing. FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync Compatible are supported. Asus also uses Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB-sync), which can be used together with Variable Refresh Rate. The highlight, however, is probably the backlight with a peak brightness of 1,000 candela. However, the values are clouded by the fact that the ROG Strix XG43UQ uses an edge-lit system and has only a few zones - zones are not particularly effective in edge-lit systems anyway due to the design. Otherwise, it is worth mentioning 2x USB 3.0 type A, 2x 10-watt loudspeakers for emergency sound and headphone output as a 3.5-millimetre jack.
