Last morning for a brief moment our entire team concluded that Ghost of Tsushima would be arriving on
PC. There were perhaps plenty of you thinking the same and that is because of several reports doing the
rounds. These reports indicated that an updated version of the game's box art has dropped the "Only on
PlayStation"; brand. This is a brand, which Sony had used for many years to signify exclusives.
Unfortunately, as we checked with our sources in the gaming industry there was some disappointment in
store. It was a mistake to take this as a sign that Ghost of Tsushima PC is in the works.
The source of all this speculation was from a single Reddit thread. It has already been tagged with
misleading by mods. It was posted yesterday and there was mention of box art changes on the official
websites of Sony and Amazon. This is certainly not the first such development in the gaming world and
there have been similar instances earlier. We could make mention of Days Gone and Horizon: Zero
Dawn. These are two popular Sony games, which came to PC. At that time they had also dropped their
exclusive branding.
We took a close look at the thread and there were more details. It seemed so that Sony has been long
involved in the process of steadily phasing out the "Only on PlayStation" badge. They have been doing so
since the launch of PS5. There have been plenty of recent exclusives from Sony and they do not seem to
come on PC anytime soon. Some of these games are Demon's Souls and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
and they also lack the badge.
Let us get back to our main topic of discussion and we could now say with confidence that the Ghost of
Tsushima dropping the "Only on PlayStation" badge signifies nothing. Hence, if anyone was excited at the
prospects of a PC release for this game, it should be a bit of a dampener. The Ghost of Tsushima has
something similar to popular games such as Ratchet and Clank, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. All three are
popular PlayStation exclusives, which PC gamers are desperate to lay hands upon. It seems there was
some excitement initially in the gaming world but it seems that dropping the "Only on PlayStation” for
Ghost of Tsushima does not signify much. Sony has however promised to release more games in PC in
the future.
