Facebook Gaming snags celeb gamer Ronda Rousey for an exclusive deal
She's starting with 'Pokemon Sword and Shield'!
Mainstream athletes are warming up to eSports, be it NFL stars, or football star Gareth Bale, more and more sportsmen and women and getting involved with the gaming industry. Ronda Rousey is another celebrated name we can add to this list.
Ronda Rousey is a celebrity fighter who has even starred in a few Hollywood movies. The former UFC fighter announced that she is exclusively streaming with Facebook Gaming in a statement provided to Business Insider.
The announcement was not surprising. Major streaming services like Twitch, Youtube, Mixer, are in a total war-like scenario; which is why Facebook buying streamers from Twitch and signing Rousey only makes sense.
Rousey had spilled the beans about her obsession with gaming in the past. She even used to be a moderator for a Pokémon forum on GameTalk.com.
"As many of you know, I have been an avid gamer most of my life and if you don't know, now you know," Rousey said in her announcement video. "I'm super excited for us to geek out together, especially because we're starting with 'Pokémon Sworword and Shield.' After this week we're going to be following a more set schedule, I don't know, Sunday or Monday mornings, we'll figure it out."
Rousey's first steam will take place on Tuesday, February 18 at 6:00 p.m. EST. And she said she will donate all the proceeds from her stream to Australian bushfire recovery efforts
