Numerous poker tournaments take place around the world, including the European Poker Tour, Winamax Poker Tour, and women's poker events. Additionally, online poker tournaments have become increasingly popular. This article wants to explore the major poker tournaments held globally, particularly in Europe and France.

World Series of Poker & The European Poker TourWorld Series of Poker 2022

The two major poker tournaments we want to highlight are the World Poker Tour (WPT), launched in France in 2002 and quickly widespread across the world. The WSOP tournament series runs throughout the year in different locations worldwide, such as the United States and Europe, featuring various tournament formats. The WPT ends with a final event in the US, consisting of a competition among the top winners of the previous games.

The other major poker tournament we want to introduce is the European Poker Tour (EPT), an initiative launched in 2005 by PokerStars and one of the largest poker circuits, featuring stops in cities like Prague, Barcelona, and Monte Carlo. It is also known as the PokerStars Championship and encompasses different tournaments and buy-in levels. At the end of the European Poker Tour event, the Grand Final sees the best players competing against each other.

Poker tournaments in France & Europe

The Winamax Poker Tour is among the most famous poker tournaments in France. The Tour was founded in 2011 as the successor of the former France Poker Tour. The Winamax Poker Tour is especially popular for its advantages, such as free entry and a friendly atmosphere. It's held in La Villette and attracts no less than 2,500 participants yearly. The program includes dozens of stops throughout France. However, in recent years, especially after legal action taken by various casinos, the tournament has incorporated an online format.

Another illustrious French tournament is the Pokerstars Festival. This prestigious Festival is also known as the France Poker Series. It saw the light for the first time in 2010 and offers a circuit in several French cities, such as Deauville and Evian.

A special mention goes to the Barrière Poker Tour Deepstack, launched in 2007, which includes seven qualification stages for the WSOP-E Main Event, a Deepstack tournament, and two flagship events called Masters. For more news on the Barrier Poker Club, click here.

Similarly, the France Poker Open, launched in 2017 by PMU Poker and Texapoker, offers a live circuit with a Main Event from La Grande Motte to Lyon and three satellites per week for each stage. You can follow the tournament stages online at PMU.fr or through partner casinos.

Poker tournaments in the US

The US has always had a special affinity with poker games. It's not a random fact if the States organize numerous tournaments yearly: the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT), the PokerGO Tour, the Super High Roller Bowl, the Poker Masters, the US Poker Open, the Triton, the Winamax, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, The Wynn Summer Classic in Las Vegas, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the WSOP Circuit (WSOP-C), the World Poker Tour (WPT), the Poker Dome Challenge, the Poker Players Championship, the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament, and several more poker tournaments at a local level.

The ability of Americans to transform each poker event into a majestic nationwide has no parallel in the universe!

Poker tournaments in AsiaWorld Poker Championships (WPC) Summer Series in Hanoi

The World Poker Championships (WPC) Summer Series in Hanoi, Vietnam, is one of the most followed tournaments in Asia. It's organized by Grand Loyal & HSOP and hosted at Grand Vista 5-star hotel in Hanoi's center. However, Vietnam is also home to the APT Summer Series Danang, another large poker event.

Summer seems to be the favorite season for poker tournaments: the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Jeju, South Korea, is another prestigious event to add to the agenda. It includes a $2,550 Main Event and a $127,350 Alpha8 for One Drop event.

Keep a wink to PokerStars (APPT) Manila, Philippines, a poker tournament hosted by Okada Manila, and to the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Taiwan, a poker tournament series launched in 2022 with affordable buy-ins available to international players.
