During their GenCon panel, Dungeons & Dragons divulged a tonne of details regarding their virtual tabletop, Project Sigil, and their new core rulebooks. Fans will have a whole new way to play Dungeons and Dragons with the updated rules set thanks to this free-to-play VTT that integrates D&D Beyond.
To commemorate the system's tenth anniversary, Dungeons & Dragons has started updating the Fifth Edition. With numerous blog articles and videos over the past month previewing some of the items coming in these new Dungeons and Dragons books, it recently unveiled an in-development virtual tabletop in addition to revamps for the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual.
Even additional details about these new goods were revealed at the GenCon Dungeons & Dragons panel. Attendee fans live-tweeted highlights of the presentation, including details about the impending rulebooks, featuring TTRPG advocate Mike Balles. There will be a ton of new content in the Dungeon Master's Guide, such as Bastion rules, worldbuilding details for Greyhawk, the original D&D setting, and gold and crafting costs for magical goods. On the other side, more than 500 creatures including strong, high-CR "apex" monsters, enhanced stat blocks, and ideas for treasure drops will be available in the Monster Manual.
The new Dungeons & Dragons VTT, code-named Project Sigil, was also discussed in further detail by the panel. Initially, it will be available for free on PC, with plans to add support for mobile and console platforms later on. The application will enable homebrew, offer varying degrees of automation, and even D&D. Players can import character sheets and more directly into Project Sigil, going beyond integration.
These new Dungeons & Dragons goods sound really amazing, with an emphasis on accessibility, ease of use, and inclusion. The first of the new volumes, the 2024 Player's Handbook, will be available on 17th September. However, D&D Beyond subscribers will be able to view the books before time and register for the Project Sigil limited beta.
