The ruling comes after a protracted legal battle over copyright infringement and circumvention of Nintendo's Switch protections, specifically in relation to the popular game Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Following intense courtroom proceedings, Yuzu Emulator concedes defeat, opting to settle the matter by compensating Nintendo and relinquishing all ties to the contested commodity. As part of the settlement, Yuzu Emulator pledges to purge all copies associated with the disputed game, effectively severing its connection with Tropic Haze and its fellow emulator Citra.

While Yuzu Emulator adamantly asserts that its platform does not condone piracy, instead providing users with the ability to play legally obtained Switch games on alternative devices such as PCs and smartphones, Nintendo remains steadfast in its pursuit of protecting its intellectual property. The lawsuit underscored Nintendo's firm stance against any perceived threats to its anti-piracy measures, even as Yuzu Emulator maintains its innocence regarding piracy allegations.

Expressing remorse over the situation, Bunnei, the maker of Yuzu Emulator, issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to combating piracy within the gaming community. In a bid to demonstrate sincerity, Bunnei announced the immediate removal of their code repositories, Patreon accounts, Discord servers, and forthcoming closure of their websites, marking a decisive step towards eradicating piracy of creators' works.

Despite the settlement, the legal proceedings are not entirely concluded. Final approval rests with the presiding judge, pending the completion of necessary formalities. Additionally, Tropic Haze, entangled in the aftermath of the lawsuit, faces stringent restrictions, including the prohibition of promoting or distributing any Yuzu-related materials and surrendering its domain name.
