Deadlock, the Norwegian sentinel in VALORANT, has been underperforming since its release in June 2023. Finally, Deadlock will get a substantial buff in upcoming VALORANT Patch 8.0. These game-changing improvements aim to improve Deadlock's playrate and success in the game.

The most striking enhancement comes in the form of Deadlock's Barrier Mesh wall, now boasting a significant increase in size. This change allows Deadlock to exert control over expansive areas on various maps, whether barricading choke points or obstructing enemies. The orbs, resistant to substantial damage, offer an advantage by distracting opponents, allowing players ample time to come out and finish their enemies.
Deadlock also witnesses a boost to her Sonic Sensor traps. The ability to retrieve and relocate these traps amplifies her adaptability on the battlefield. The increased activation speed of the traps leaves little room for enemies to evade the stun.
In previous iterations, Deadlock faced limitations as her Sonic Sensor, once deployed, couldn't be repositioned. This drawback rendered her ineffective in scenarios where the attacking team chose an alternate site. Now, with the ability to reclaim her sensors, Deadlock gains newfound flexibility, effortlessly adjusting setups and rotations.
Historically overshadowed by agents like Sage and Cypher, Deadlock grappled with perceived weakness. Sage's Barrier Orb and Slow Orb held superior efficacy in stalling attackers, while Cypher's Trapwire and Cyber Cage excelled at thwarting flanking attempts. Deadlock's Sonic Sensor, lacking the ability to be picked up, paled in comparison to Cypher's Trapwire that often compelled opponents to reveal their position by dismantling it.
