Perfect World strategically chose this moment to disclose their groundbreaking initiative. The Shanghai Major is slated to unfold its esports spectacle in December of the following year, promising an unparalleled gaming experience.

Perfect World Announces Shanghai Major 2024 During CS2 Asia Championships 2023

Reflecting on the recent CS2 Asia Championships 2023, held in the vibrant city of Shanghai after a hiatus of four years, the tournament witnessed top-tier teams, alongside qualified Chinese contenders, battling for supremacy and a substantial $500,000 USD prize pool. FaZe Clan, riding high on a 15-match win streak, solidified their dominance by securing a third consecutive tournament victory.

Yet, amid the electrifying competition, Perfect World's announcement stole the spotlight. The revelation echoed through the gaming community as the news of the second CS2 Major scheduled for December 2024 surfaced. Perfect World, not only the host but also the organizer, takes on a pioneering role in bringing this major event to China—a first since Valve's endorsement of the location.

Before the era of Counter-Strike 2, Perfect World and BLAST fiercely vied to host the second Major of 2023, a competition ultimately canceled. With the reintroduction of the dual Major setup in the upcoming year, Perfect World emerged victorious in the bidding war. Now, the global esports stage is set, featuring the PGL Copenhagen Major in the first quarter of 2024 (17th to 31st March) and Perfect World Shanghai Major in the grand finale of the gaming calendar—December 2024, though precise dates remain undisclosed.
