PSG, the well-known esports organization, has announced its return to the competitive Dota 2 scene, joining forces with Quest Esports. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as they prepare to compete in The International 2023 (TI 2023), one of the most prestigious events in the esports calendar. This collaboration marks PSG's daring comeback, coming just weeks after they parted ways with their previous partner, LGD.
PSG Quest Reemerges in Dota 2 with TI 2023 Partnership
The formation of the new team, PSG Quest, is a bold move, signaling their intent to make a significant impact at TI 2023. It's a comeback that has piqued the interest of the Dota 2 community, and it's set to add a new layer of excitement to the tournament.
The PSG and LGD partnership, which had endured since 2018 and achieved top-three finishes at The International on three occasions, came to an end on September 4, 2023. This abrupt breakup, so close to TI 2023, has left fans and experts speculating about PSG's motives behind the sudden shift.
Reactions within the Dota 2 community have been mixed, with some expressing concerns about PSG's new affiliation with Quest Esports. PSG is owned by Qatar Sports Investments, and Quest Esports is also based in Qatar, leading to speculations that Quest's already considerable resources could receive a significant boost through this partnership. This has raised questions about whether this could tip the balance of power in favor of Quest, potentially making them a dominant force in the esports scene.
However, it's important to note that Quest Esports has earned its own place in the limelight. Their journey to prominence began with a victory in the Western Europe Winter League Division Two. Subsequently, they secured a mid-table position in the Western Europe Spring League Division One and took third place in the Western Europe Summer League Division One. Additionally, they made a commendable fourth-place finish in The Bali Major. While their performance might have fluctuated in recent times, Quest Esports has undoubtedly left their mark.

With the new PSG partnership in place, there's a hint of nostalgia for fans who remember LGD consistently finishing second or third at TI events. Even if PSG Quest manages to achieve a similar feat, it would be a remarkable accomplishment for the underdogs in this competitive landscape.
