In a bid to bounce back from underwhelming performances, Shopify Rebellion, a prominent VALORANT team, has decided to make significant changes to its roster. Following a lackluster showing at the North American VALORANT Challenger's League (VCL), the organization has parted ways with three key players and assistant coach Travis "tdawgg" Regan. The decision comes after the team finished in last place during the tournament.
Shopify Rebellion Releases Three Players From Its Valorant Roster
Shopify Rebellion managed to secure a spot for next year's VCL NA tournament despite their struggles in the recent event. However, their inability to produce satisfactory results prompted the organization to take action. The roster overhaul includes the departure of VALORANT stars Anthony "vanity" Malaspina and Brandon "bdog" Sanders, along with assistant coach Travis "tdawgg" Regan.
One of the notable changes is the exit of ex-Cloud9 in-game leader (IGL) vanity, who took on the role of leading the team in March 2023. However, after just three months, vanity was removed from the squad. Meanwhile, bdog's departure follows a year-long tenure with Shopify Rebellion.
During the second split of the NA VCL, Shopify Rebellion managed to secure a fifth-place finish, surpassing some teams that eventually eliminated them in the later stages of the tournament. However, they faced a daunting challenge against the top-ranked M80, suffering a decisive 2-0 defeat that relegated them to the lower bracket. Despite a valiant effort against G2, Shopify Rebellion fell short, unable to overcome G2's formidable Ascent map and ultimately faltering at the final hurdle.
With the departure of these three players, Shopify Rebellion now faces the task of rebuilding its roster. Vanity's previous experience with top-tier squads may provide him with another opportunity in the big leagues, but whether he can replicate his prior success on the Cloud9 roster remains uncertain.
