Destiny 2 has its new expansion, Witch Queen releasing in just a few more days. And, with it there are a lot of new things being added to the game. New Void 3.0 subclass changes, new weapons, new location, new quests, and a ton of new stuff. Anyway, with this new mode, another thing that is happening is the rework of one of its game modes, Gambit. Gambit is a PvEvP game mode and was added to the game with the Forsaken expansion, more than three years ago back in September 2018. Now, this mode was not appreciated by many, and even now it is one of the least popular game modes in Gambit.
To make Gambit more enjoyable, Bungie is going to provide some major reworks to the game mode with the upcoming Witch Queen expansion. In the latest, This Week at Bungie, we have got detailed information regarding the changes that are happening to it. Designer Alan Blaine says that Witch Queen provided the team with a chance to finally respond to the feedback that they have received from the players regarding Gambit, and now they would enforce the changes that they deem necessary, and make it more appealing.
The changes that they are adding consist of a lot of things. Let us go over those. Firstly, there will be freelance matchmaking which would allow solo players to queue with other solo players. So, there would be no need to worry about getting teamed up against a pre-made party. Then, there will also be new respawn added to the maps of Gambit. Sometimes, you would be spawning quite far from the action after you die, and this was quite annoying. There would also be new spawn points for enemy invaders.
When it came to blockers, only the large blocker that needed 15 motes to spawn was a challenge. 10-mote medium blockers, and 5-mote small blockers were very easy to fight against. Now, the 10-mote medium blocker is getting a health boost, and the 15-mote large blocker will have Stasis power.
Heavy ammo was something that was hard to come by in Gambit, and only the timed Heavy ammo crate was something that would guarantee heavy ammo, but that could be used by only one person at a time. Now, there would be more sources of heavy ammo in the form of an ammo chest that would contain special and heavy ammo. This chest would spawn each front gets active, all the players can activate it, but only once. Furthermore, there is a timer of 20 seconds.
Then, there are also lesser chances of invading, as the invasion portal would be active once you hit the 40-mote mark, and the 80-mote mark. Furthermore, invasion kills would result in the Primeval being healed for 27% of its full health. Talking of primeval, the primeval fights will now be longer, furthermore, the envoys would be spawning out in the front, and not near the bank as before.
So, there are indeed a lot of changes. It is to be seen how this affects the user experience. But, for that we would have to wait for the arrival of Witch Queen, which is like less than a week away now.
