Treyarch Studios, the creator of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has announced that it would be reintroducing Last Stand, a contentious feature that hasn't been present in Call of Duty multiplayer since Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. Fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have been saddened by the reappearance of the perk, however the contentious feature has been changed into a field enhancement with the new moniker Morphine Injector.

Treyarch and Activision have been posting new blog entries every day with details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is only a few days away from debut. The game's guns, perks, equipment, scorestreaks, and more were all broken down in detail on 18th October. This included the reintroduction of classic weaponry like the XM4 as well as brand-new scorestreaks like the A.G.R. Mk1, a remotely piloted fast attack tank equipped with a grenade launcher and a machine gun.

Call Of Duty Verifies That Black Ops 6's Last Stand Perk Will Return

The studio has now unveiled Black Ops 6's field upgrades, confirming that the renowned but highly contentious Modern Warfare 2 perk, Last Stand, will return as a field upgrade called Morphine Injector. Treyarch had previously unveiled the game's long list of multiplayer benefits. A new blog post claims that players can enter a Last Stand state when they receive fatal damage after unlocking the field upgrade at level 44. The player can then be revived by teammates or by getting a kill to revive themselves. It's unclear, but it's likely that when players are downed, they'll have the default pistol, just like in the original Last Stand.

The return of Last Stand in the form of a field improvement is one of the significant changes that Black Ops 6 is introducing to the game, and it hasn't gone over well with fans. Potential_Owl7825 explains on Reddit that they "hope [Morphine Injector] has an insanely long charge-up time," but they also think it should only be used twice every match. OhMyTummyHurts, a Reddit user, stated that Last Stand "was removed for good reason" and that its reappearance "is an L."

Additionally, this isn't the first time that players have voiced their displeasure with a field upgrade in the game. Upon experiencing the shooter firsthand over its two beta weekends earlier this year, players immediately demanded that Black Ops 6 implement a significant alteration to Sleeper Agent. At level 51, players can obtain the contentious field improvement, which enables them to sneak up on the opposition and briefly pose as friends. The most recent blog post from Treyarch reveals that the upgrade will remain as is for launch, despite numerous users' requests for it to be altered to a scorestreak.
