In the PGL Wallachia Season 2 Grand Finals, Heroic defeated Team Falcons to become the first South American team to win an international LAN in Dota 2 history. On 13th October, the Norwegian team with players from Saudi Arabia entered the record books by decisively defeating their opponents 3-1.

After losing to Team Falcons in the Upper Bracket, Heroic's roster of South American superstars advanced to the grand finals. The team then overcame Tundra earlier today, winning the competition for the second time in as many meetings with the dominant European team.

But with Team Falcons in the championship round, both observers and fans expected to witness the same outcome we've seen all season: a strong Falcons squad winning another championship. If you were going to wager on Dota 2, this was a rather secure option. They had already vanquished Heroic earlier in the competition, after all.

But when squad Falcons was pushed to the brink in a base-race finish that saw the squad narrowly capture the first win, a ray of hope appeared in the first game. Regretfully, for the Falcons, this would be their closest opportunity to win the remainder of the series.

David "Parker" Nicho Flores' outstanding performance was partially responsible for this. His play veered between a technically astounding performance and madness that we haven't seen in a long time. The play style of Heroic was a wonderful blend of South American-style Dota, and there was obviously method to the madness.

Parkers put an end to Team Falcons with three convincing wins on Morphling, Shadow Fiend, and Monkey King. His team, which was as flawless, enabled the Falcons to completely collapse. By the end of the fourth game, Heroic had declared victory and it was evident that Team Falcons was no longer cohesive.

Heroic has made history by being the first South African team to win a Dota 2 LAN tournament and having one of the greatest squads from that area ever. Heroic wins $300,000 from PGL Wallachia S2 and the ability to brag about defeating Team Falcons. A perfect way to cap off a LAN in which four teams from America advanced to the postseason.

This is, in many respects, the ideal squad to win this honor; players on the Heroic roster have years of experience honing their craft on legendary SA rosters like Beastcoast, Hokori, Keys Stars, and others. Belgian-American polyglot Cedric "Davai Lama" Deckmyn, the only non-SA import on the team, has progressed from a Tier 2 grinder on D2 Hustlers to a top-tier competition with Heroic.

For the Falcons, it marks the conclusion of a competition that regrettably did not center around their play. The team's decision to maintain its current squad without making any changes may soon come under scrutiny following the diversion caused by Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf's problems earlier in the event. It was, after all, anticipated that the fourth-place TI13 squad would have an easy time winning this tournament.

PGL announced three new PGL Wallachia events for the next year as it wrapped off its broadcast.
