Fear the Spotlight, a retro horror game, will launch on October 22 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A previous iteration of Fear the Spotlight was made available on Steam earlier this year, and those who played it gave it "Very Positive" ratings. With a proper launch imminent, the game will now be available on PlayStation and other platforms.

Among the titles on display at the most recent PlayStation State of Play event was Fear the Spotlight. Horror games were not well-represented on the PlayStation State of Play, while Fear the Spotlight was one of the few exceptions. PlayStation users may now precisely anticipate when they can play Fear the Spotlight for themselves, due to the State of Play.

PlayStation has confirmed that Fear the Spotlight will launch on the PS4 and PS5 on October 22. On the same day, the game is also anticipated to launch on PC, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, however the trailer made no mention of those platforms. For those who are not familiar with the game, Fear the Spotlight has gameplay that is reminiscent of classic survival-horror games from the 1990s, along with retro graphics. The protagonist of the game, Vivian, together with her companion Amy, conduct an after-hours seance at their school. Things go wrong as one might expect, Amy disappears, and Vivian finds herself in conflict with a spooky monster that is prowling the hallways. Vivian must elude the beast, work puzzles, and eventually locate her friend who has vanished.

Notably, Blumhouse Games, the gaming division of Blumhouse Productions, a production studio most renowned for its horror movies, is releasing Fear the Spotlight. The first game to be released under the Blumhouse Games banner is Fear the Spotlight, which aims to have a similar feel to Blumhouse Productions. Fear the Spotlight is under a lot of pressure, but based on the game's amazing trailer, it appears like it may be one of the best horror games of the year when it releases on October 22.

October 2024 will see the release of other horror games than Fear the Spotlight. Along with more well-known games like the Until Dawn PS5 remake, the Silent Hill 2 remake, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, and Clock Tower Rewind, a number of independent horror game projects are coming out that month. It goes without saying that October 2024 will be a very busy month for fans of horror games, especially since Fear the Spotlight has set a release date of October 22.
