All You Need To Know About The International 2024

The International 2024 is an offline Dota 2 tournament taking place at Royal Arena, Copenhagen. The event started on 4th September 2024 and will conclude on 15th September 2024. Organized by Valve and PGL, the event boasts a prize pool of $2,541,212 USD and 16 teams are taking part in it. Lets go through the specifics of this event.

Format

There are six invited teams and ten teams are from regional qualifiers. There are two teams each from Western Europe, China, Southeast Asia and South America. There is one team each from Eastern Europe and North America.

Group stage of this event was held from 4th to 5th September, 2024. There were four groups of four teams each. All matches were played in best of two series. Top two teams in each group were matched with opponent from either the 3rd or 4th place teams in the opposite group (A vs B and C vs D) for seeding matches.

Seeding decider stage were held from 6th to 7th September, 2024. Sixteen teams played eight best of three series head to head matches to determine main event bracket placement.

The Main event was held from 8th to 10th September (Playoffs) & Finals will be held from 13th to 15th September, 2024. Sixteen teams will play in a double-elimination bracket. Eight teams will play in the Upper Bracket and eight in the Lower Bracket. The Grand Final will be played in best of five series, whereas all other matches will be played in best of three series.

During the Seeding Decider stage, Xtreme Gaming won 2-0 against Talon Esports, Team Falcons defeated beastcoast with a 2-1 score, Team Liquid won 2-1 against BetBoom Team, Tundra Esports defeated HEROIC with a 2-0 score, Cloud9 won 2-0 against 1w Team, nouns defeated Team Spirit with a 2-0 score, Aurora won 2-1 against Team Zero and Gaimin Gladiators defeated G2 x iG with a 2-1 score.

Prize Pool

The event boasts a substantial prize pool of $2,541,212 USD with the following distribution:

  • The champion will take home $1,143,537.
  • The team securing the second place will receive $355,772.
  • The third place holder team will take home $228,666.
  • The team securing the fourth place will receive $152,444.
