Concord's post-launch expansion will not include a Battle Pass system, according to Firewalk Studios. The news that there won't be a Battle Pass is a pleasant surprise for fans, who have been quick to voice any queries or concerns to developers Firewalk Studios ahead of Concord's premiere.

Players who pre-ordered the game on PC and PS5 were able to play it during its open beta weekend, which ended recently. This gave them a sneak peek at the game before its general release the following month. Though Concord's marketing campaign has gone well so far and it has had a generally positive response online, the open beta figures were unsettling. While it is difficult to verify the PlayStation 5 player count, Steam experienced a peak player count of slightly over 2,000 during the weekend. As the open beta draws to an end, gamers have been asking questions about Battle Passes and other issues they had throughout their time playing the game. The devs have been responding to these inquiries.

The official game Twitter account has verified that Concord does not have a Battle Pass. Along with the announcement that players will be able to access a wealth of post-launch content, including more game modes, maps, and Freegunners at no additional cost, the reveal is a response to a number of commonly asked questions by fans. In addition, Firewalk Studios promises more in-game cinematics that will shed light on Concord's history and the addition of a training area where players can quietly try out each Freegunner's equipment. Gamers have historically held differing opinions about battle passes, so word that Concord won't feature any is being received quite well.

There Won't Be a Battle Pass in Concord

Since this is a live-service game, Concord will depend heavily on its players. The game can end before it has an opportunity to develop further if the player base stays low. A popular story involves a live-service game closing because of a declining player population, and Concord might be next on the list if Steam sales are any indication. Concord differs from other free-to-play live service games in that it allows players to play the game at their own speed and earn prizes instead of relying on a Battle Pass system, but only time will tell if this will be sufficient.

Concord's open beta proved to be a fun experience for those who did play it, despite the low player count. The excellent reviews the game garnered during this time could be sufficient to attract more players when it launches. Concord has a lot to offer players without requiring a Battle Pass, including a variety of game modes, terrain, and a developing roster that can be explored in-game.
