A recent leak suggests that Neon White, the 2022 first-person shooter from independent developer Angel Matrix and publisher Annapurna Interactive, may soon make its way onto Xbox systems. This fast-paced first-person shooter was highly well-received by both reviewers and players when it was first released, so Xbox lovers should definitely keep an eye out for it when it eventually makes its way to their favourite platform.

First-person shooter Neon White was first made available on 20th June, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch and PC. Later that year, it was also released on the PS4 and PS5. With its unique blend of genres, the game blended imaginative card-based fighting mechanisms with speedrunning, puzzle-platforming aspects, and trigger-happy gunplay. The remarkable synergy between these disparate gameplay components led to Neon White becoming one of the best-rated games of 2022. The game was so well-received that some even saw Neon White as a contender for Game of the Year, on par with blockbusters like God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring.

Unfortunately, because Angel Matrix has not yet been released on Xbox, not every player has had the chance to play the highly acclaimed shooter on their preferred platform. Fortunately, this might soon change as achievements for Neon White have appeared on the TrueAchievements website, per a post by Reddit user AlilBitTall on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit. Achievement lists for future Xbox games usually become accessible closer to release, so this suggests that Neon White's delayed Xbox debut isn't too far off.

The news that Neon White is coming to Xbox isn't particularly new, as Microsoft had already stated that the game would be available on its systems in June 2023. Along with the game's Xbox debut, the firm at the time also revealed that the popular first-person shooter will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. Considering that just a few months ago, Annapurna Interactive had refuted speculations that Neon White would be available on Game Pass, this was somewhat of a surprise. Angel Matrix's first game has been available for play on PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC for the past two years or so, but the shooter's arrival on Game Pass could at least make up for its delayed release on Microsoft's platforms.

Neon White might wind up being one of the July 2024 Game Pass day-one titles, joining the likes of Frostpunk 2, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Dungeons of Hinterberg, though it's still best to keep expectations in check regarding its release. If this is the case, July could prove to be a very good month for Xbox's subscription service in general—especially for players who want independent games with a distinctive flair.
