Although the game's developer had previously stated that it would be accessible on Xbox Game Pass, the PR team for SteamWorld Heist 2 has verified that this will not be the case. The strategy game's creators have admitted that the mention of Game Pass was an error, but the game will still launch on 8th August.

When the team unveiled its first video back in April, SteamWorld Heist 2 was first confirmed for Game Pass. The 2015 turn-based tactics game SteamWorld Heist made waves with its distinct gameplay, where players direct 2D tactical shootouts while manually directing their robots' weapons. SteamWorld Heist 2 is the follow-up to that game.

SteamWorld Heist 2's PR team Fortyseven has now confirmed that the strategic game will not be available on Game Pass, as reported by XboxEra. Fortyseven claims that the confusion was brought up by the Game Pass emblem that was "inadvertently included" in the clip. They have also removed any other social media posts that mentioned a Game Pass release. The game is still scheduled for release on August 8 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, even if it won't be accessible through Game Pass.

There Will Be No SteamWorld Heist 2 Game Pass Available

Something similar happened lately with Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance was mistakenly listed as a Game Pass title in an Instagram post that gamers discovered. However, the game's producers swiftly clarified that this was a "template mistake."

Xbox Game Pass members may be disappointed by this announcement, but lovers of SteamWorld still have plenty of alternatives with the service thanks to the recent addition of SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Dig 2. Additionally, SteamWorld Build debuted on Game Pass on the first day of release last year.

Xbox Game Pass customers will be happy to hear that six games are still scheduled for release on 1st July, even though this day-one release was lost. 16th July will see the release of Flock and Magical Delicacy, while 18th July will see the release of "Souls-lite" Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and the Zelda-inspired Dungeons of Hinterberg. Xbox Game Pass will get Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on 19th July and the much anticipated Frostpunk 2 on 25th July for subscribers. Even while none of these titles are quite in the same genre as SteamWorld Heist 2, they will nevertheless provide players seeking for something fresh to play in the upcoming month with a nice selection.
