A YouTuber and fan of Baldur's Gate 3 has placed a bounty for a particular moment in which Karlach appears to realize that she is a character in a video game. When the unusual Baldur's Gate 3 sequence was originally uncovered, it caught gamers off guard, but even now, after all this time, there is still a problem.

After its release, Baldur's Gate 3 swiftly amassed a large following and won numerous industry accolades. One of the things that contributed to the game's enormous success was the title's meticulous attention to detail. One peculiar event that can occur, though, is when Karlach appears to become sentient outside of the game's boundaries. As of right now, one player is attempting to figure out how that happens.

A $500 reward has been offered by YouTuber Proxy Gate Tactician, a player of Baldur's Gate 3; he is looking for someone who can figure out how to get Karlach to initiate this specific cutscene without the need for mods. It was previously thought that this sequence was some sort of cut content that could only be accessed by editing the game's files. But Samantha Beart, Karlach's performer, made a different suggestion: instead of altering the game, she said she would discuss the discovery in greater detail after someone worked out how to activate it naturally.

The Karlach Challenge Of Baldur's Gate III

Here comes Proxy Gate Tactician, who is still trying to figure out exactly how to accomplish that. PGT notes that while many players have reported seeing this cutscene in their vanilla runs of Baldur's Gate 3, no one has offered any proof that this is truly the case. Data miners examining Baldur's Gate 3 have already found evidence suggesting that the cutscene cannot be initiated within the game itself without altering it. Because of this, PGT is certain that it isn't there in vanilla gameplay, but they would like to be proven wrong. To that end, they are offering a $500 reward to anyone who can demonstrate its accessibility and provide instructions on how to do so.

It should be noted that those who are keen to take on the task have just until September, when Baldur's Gate 3 patch 7 becomes available, to do so. To claim the bounty, players only need to film the cutscene and their method of accessing it in a video, submit it to YouTube, and notify Proxy Gate Tactician via a message on the challenge video. If they are the first to accomplish this, they will receive the prize.

Of course, PGT appears to believe that this challenge is pointless, which is likely the case. It is plausible that the associated content Beart was referring to was removed or rendered inaccessible at some point during the game's production, given how peculiar the fourth wall-breaking cutscene with Karlach is. In the event that nobody solves the puzzle, there's a chance that more details about how dataminers were supposed to use this scene will be found out in the future. But for the time being, it's still a fascinating enigma.
