In addition to bringing bug patches and new visual choices, the June hotfix for Mortal Kombat 1 also made adjustments to some of the game's combatants, including Homelander, the most recent DLC character. The eponymous first game in the venerable Mortal Kombat franchise was developed by the now-defunct Midway Games.
Mortal Kombat 1, a reboot of the franchise created by NetherRealm Studios, was released in September of last year. It is a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat 11, which came out in 2019. Since its release, the cast of the more recent game has grown, and on 11th June, Homelander, the newest DLC character, will be available. A week has passed since the debut of Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, and NetherRealm Studios has already released a new game update that significantly changes The Boys adversary and a number of other fighters.
Fixing Homelander's ability to cancel an action and utilize his Flight move after getting knocked down repeatedly during a combo that doesn't burn up Super Meter—the energy bar that lets players execute special techniques or combos—was one of the modifications made to Mortal Kombat 1 in the June hotfix. Changes were also made to Cyrax, Khameleon, Janet Cage, and Peacemaker, among other Mortal Kombat 1 characters, by the 18th June hotfix. Along with adding a new 60 FPS option for players on Steam and the Epic Games Store, it also included basic fixes.
Players of Mortal Kombat 1 expressed dissatisfaction with the Homelander DLC due to the visual deterioration in the Nintendo Switch version. While Mortal Kombat 1's PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions faithfully reproduced actor Antony Starr's likeness as Homelander from the critically popular The Boys TV series, the Switch version of his character's model lacked well-done lighting, textures, and facial expressions. The Nintendo handheld rendition of Mortal Kombat 1 had already drawn criticism for its shoddy graphics, lengthy loading times, and glitches before Homelander was even released.
On 23rd July, Takeda Takahashi and Ferra, two new Mortal Kombat 1 fighters, will be released. For a week, players who purchased either the Deluxe Edition of the game or the Kombat Pack addition will have first access to these new characters.
Ferra was originally scheduled to debut as a Kameo Fighter in Mortal Kombat 1, but the development team decided to postpone her release in order to ensure that she could provide the greatest possible support to players. The Kameo Fighters from Mortal Kombat 1 function similarly to the aided fighters from Mortal Kombat 11, giving players access to assistance characters that are also capable of carrying out their own Brutalities and Fatalities.
