A sneak peek at the upcoming survival horror game Post Trauma took place at the Guerrilla Collective 2024 showcase. Horror fans will be able to identify several obvious inspirations from the independent game, including Resident Evil and The Evil Within.
When Post Trauma was first shown at The Game Awards Show 2022, a short reveal trailer that featured tiny glimpses of the game's content depicted the game as a cinematic horror title. Gamers are now getting a closer peek at the game during the Guerrilla Collective. Roman, a middle-aged train conductor, is the character that players assume when they enter a bizarre nightmare world. Players will have to lead Roman through eerie settings and past unsettling animals in a weird place that defies reality. In addition to navigating a variety of challenges as they go between strange and exotic settings, players will have to contend with terrifying creatures that want to prevent Roman from ever escaping.
Post Trauma, which debuted in a new video at the Guerrilla Collective, will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in the fall of 2024. After several years of hard effort by Studios Red Soul Games and Raw Fury, Post Trauma will be available for players to experience later this year. The clip gives fans a sneak peek at the survival horror game's release timeframe and console compatibility in addition to showing off additional gameplay. The trailer for the game also gives players a preview of the voice cast, which includes Autumn Ivy, Hyoie O'Grady, and Togo Igawa.
The fixed camera angles evoke a sense of familiarity with the earlier Resident Evil games, as players traverse locations replete with the eerie architecture of Silent Hill while dodging monstrous creatures whose designs would not look out of place in The Evil Within. Post Trauma is a game that doesn't disguise its influences; it is obviously inspired by decades' worth of genre-defining hits, and it's easy to understand where these references come from and how they're applied.
Post Trauma's design might comfort The Evil Within fans, especially in light of the collapse of Tango Gameworks, the game's developer, earlier this year. Post Trauma is a game that is already leaving an impact thanks to its gory scenes and unique plot, and it's understandable why given that the game was heavily inspired by such a great library of games.
