Fans of Dota 2 delighted at a fleeting reunion between the legendary core pair of Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan and Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, as Shopify Rebellion faced off with the latter serving as the replacement midlaner for PGL Wallachia Season 1. In an interview conducted at the event, Arteezy discussed what it was like to play alongside SumaiL again after a four-year break.
He described playing again as a "blast from the past" and thought it was intriguing because many aspects of SumaiL had remained constant throughout time. Simultaneously, Arteezy discussed SumaiL's increased maturity.
It's unquestionably a throwback. Since the last time I played with him, he hasn't changed at all. He exudes the exact similar sentiments. He acts in the same way. He responds to the game's events in the same way. His response from outside...The one area where I believe he has improved is his vocalization. A while back, I believe he was much more self-assured and thought he was the best. He is now much more expressive, and I believe that is just something that happens with age, therefore I won't need to speak in a rigid manner.
Playing together at Evil Geniuses from 2015 to 2019, Arteezy and SumaiL won the Mars Dota 2 League 2016 Autumn, the Manila Masters, and achieved outstanding performance at The Internationals (TIs).
They were generally among the best teams in the globe during this time, despite not winning many tournaments. Two of its key players, Arteezy and SumaiL, performed really well and attracted a lot of attention from fans.
Evil Geniuses and SumaiL split up in 2019, however Arteezy stayed on the team. While SumaiL is a member of Nigma Galaxy, Arteezy currently plays for Shopify Rebellion, a team he joined with many former Evil Geniuses players.
The two players will part ways after being eliminated from PGL Wallachia Season 1. The squad battled till the very end of the Swiss group stage, losing 2-1 to BOOM Esports and going out.
