A haphazard jump in the Dreaming City has allowed a Destiny 2 player to explore a previously undiscovered area of the game. Bungie releases new Destiny 2 expansions every year, each of which adds new regions and tasks for players to discover.

The Final Shape, the upcoming addition, will launch in June 2024. In anticipation of the upcoming chapter in the popular First-Person Shooter series, Bungie launched the Into The Light update, which marked the beginning of Destiny 2's next development. While the majority of guardians are excited about the franchise's future, one player has managed to slip into the past as a result of a poorly timed jump.

A Reddit member going by the CdnSasquatch handle shared a strange discovery made in Destiny 2's Dreaming City. The Guardian may be seen spawning in the Spine of Keres region on the video, then taking off to the right of the bridge. In this instance, the player is able to go out of boundaries and land in a hazy, dark location. The region is a section of the Ascendant Plane, which is where exceptional events took place in Destiny 2's earlier seasons. No enemies appear to spawn, and all loot seems to have been deleted, as demonstrated by CdnSasquatch in their video. However, by making some strategic leaps, one can explore the unsettling out-of-bounds area.

A Hidden Map in the Dreaming City is Discovered by a Destiny 2 Player

This section of the Ascendant Plane has been inoperable for a while because Bungie blocked off the area in preparation for the 2022 release of The Witch Queen expansion. But rather than taking it out of Destiny 2, Bungie concealed the map beneath Dreaming City and prevented players from accessing it. Commenters claim that if players fly from the Dreaming City and land in particular locations, they can locate other Ascendent Plane maps.

It begs the question of why this particular place is still in the game given that players cannot visit it naturally. It's possible that the map remained in place since ringfencing the area made it easier for the developers than deleting it completely. After all, Bungie added a new Onslaught mode to Destiny 2 in addition to the most recent Into The Light update, which would have demanded a lot of work from the developers.

It's unclear if Bungie has any intentions for this area outside of the map until The Final Shape expansion launches in June 2024.
