An insider has revealed that Sledgehammer Games will be producing Call of Duty's 2027 entry. After reportedly rushing the development of Modern Warfare 3, the studio should have plenty of time to create the next Call of Duty.

A Bloomberg report claims that Sledgehammer's Modern Warfare 3 was created in just 16 months. The report appeared credible, considering the game's mostly reused multiplayer maps and lacklustre single-player experience. These claims were denied when a Sledgehammer executive claimed that the studio had spent years developing Modern Warfare 3. In any event, it looks like Sledgehammer will have more than a year to develop the upcoming Call of Duty title.

Insider Gaming claims that at a town hall meeting, Sledgehammer employees were informed that the studio would be leading the development of Call of Duty 2027. When no further details about the upcoming game were released, fans began to guess about the potential tactics that Sledgehammer might use. Sledgehammer's Advanced Warfare from 2014 was the first Call of Duty game to feature jetpack movement, which hadn't been seen in a game since Infinite Warfare in 2016. The movement system, though not without controversy, might just be revived at the right moment.

The following Call Of Duty Games are rumoured to come in future:

  • CoD 2024: Treyarch title
  • CoD 2025: Black Ops 2 sequel
  • CoD 2026: Infinity Ward title
  • CoD 2027: Sledgehammer title

Leaks indicate that Call of Duty 2024 will take place in the early 1990s. Call of Duty 2025 will be a Black Ops 2 sequel, and Call of Duty 2026 will be an Infinity Ward game that may opt to stick with its wildly popular Modern Warfare setting. All of these theories seem to point toward a movement with boots on the ground, which makes some fans wonder if Sledgehammer's arrival in 2027 will bring back the jetpack movement and turn things upside down. However these are all wild guesses at this point.
