The Apex Legends Global Series community is shaken as Vexed Gaming, once considered favorites, allegedly shuts down its operations, leaving star EMEA roster MaTaFe, Unlucky, and KIND4 without organizational support just a day before the highly anticipated Pro League is set to commence.

The news was revealed through a post on 19th January by MaTaFe, shedding light on the abrupt ceasing of Vexed Gaming's operations. The shocking announcement came merely two hours after Vexed Gaming's management duo, Steve “JTB” James and Dan “Skiin” O’Hara, disclosed their disassociation from the organization. In a letter published on X (formerly Twitter), the duo vaguely hinted at underlying issues, expressing remorse for "the failures of the broader company leadership" that led to this unfortunate outcome.

The letter continued with a retrospective acknowledgment of mistakes made long before the recession, contributing to a year-long struggle to keep the organization afloat. Internal problems, they admitted, had taken a toll on their health, personal lives, and mental well-being.

Integral to Vexed Gaming's success, James and O’Hara served as the face of the organization, driving their competitive teams to victory. MaTaFe's subsequent announcement that the Apex team is now seeking a new organizational home suggests that the departure of James and O’Hara was the final blow for the beleaguered company.

Established in 2015, the U.K.-based organization ventured into various esports titles, including Apex Legends, VALORANT, Counter-Strike, Rainbow 6, and Halo. Despite their participation across multiple games, the longevity of these rosters remained uncertain, often lasting only one season.

The decision to exit the esports scene was undoubtedly a challenging one, especially after the Apex roster's near success. With just a day remaining until the commencement of ALGS Split One, MaTaFe, Unlucky, and KIND4 now find themselves in a race against time to secure new backing and financial support.
