One Skyrim user amassed an absurd number of kills during a bloody session that would even make the Night Mother feel shy, and displayed their entire tally on their statistics page. Even though Bethesda just published Starfield, a lot of fans are still enjoying the fifth Elder Scrolls game because, on Steam, Skyrim appears to have more players than Starfield. It's probable that Skyrim has seen yet another wave of new players discover the game for the first time, meaning that Starfield may serve as the gateway drug of the Bethesda sandbox experience for a younger generation of gamers.

Even with years of updates and improvement to their advantage, Skyrim's extraordinary endurance can also be attributed to its easy accessibility and uncomplicated charm. A playthrough can consist of anything from a traditional no "quick travel" run to the tried-and-true stealth archer build in Skyrim, along with restrictions on using potions and healing spells. Fans can easily find more reasons to immerse themselves in the icy peaks, windy coastlines, and bright woods of Tamriel's northernmost province by installing even a few mods to improve a game.

But for a player named amelix34, their playthrough of Skyrim was quite different; their goal was to destroy every monster or character that wasn't designated as Essential. Even though games like Undertale permit actual Genocide runs, this playtime could be the most similar one available, at least from a Bethesda game released after Morrowind. The main Skyrim subreddit posted the data, and the stats are very astounding.

In amelix34's Skyrim session, over three thousand people were killed, about seven hundred animals were slaughtered, and about ninety Dwemer automatons were reduced to scrap. But the mass killer who reduced Skyrim to a desolate province also had an amazing lifetime reward of 267,140 gold. The amount of bunnies killed is a known unsettling statistic tracked by Skyrim, but alas, amelix34's screenshots don't show this specific kill total.

An important irony is that Meridia, a Daedra who is loosely regarded as a "Lawful Good" and whose portfolio includes life and energy, gave the weapon Dawnbreaker, which was the main facilitator of this massacre. Although the number of necromancers and undead eliminated throughout the playing would undoubtedly impress this Daedric Prince from Elder Scrolls literature, she would probably frown upon the indiscriminate murder that amelix34 committed during the game. Though it's unlikely that Bethesda would ever reconsider their position on Essential NPCs, one can't help but wonder if The Elder Scrolls 6 will experience a similar run.
