Aurora, the Serbian esports powerhouse, has signed Talon Esports’ former Dota 2 roster ahead of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. This move has injected a fresh dynamic in the Dota 2 esports community.

Notably absent from the revamped lineup is Rafli "Mikoto" Fathur Rahman, a key figure in Talon Esports' success. The midlane reins, once in Mikoto's hands, have now been handed over to seasoned player Armel "Armel" Tabios, who brings a wealth of experience from his stint with Team Secret in Europe. Aurora's decision to enlist Armel is a bold move, and fans are eager to witness his impact on the team's performance.

Aurora’s Dota 2 Roster

Aurora’s Dota 2 roster boasts star players:

  •  Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon
  •  Armel “Armel” Paul Tabios
  •  Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong
  •  Worawit “Q” Mekchai
  •  Chan “Oli” Chon Kien

These players, previously the backbone of the most successful SEA team under Talon Esports, parted ways with the organization despite recent triumphs. Talon, acknowledging their achievements, expressed a mutual decision to explore new opportunities, signaling a significant shift in the SEA Dota 2 esports.

Reflecting on their journey with Talon, the team's pinnacle was their remarkable third-place finish at the Lima Major 2023, followed by a fourth-place achievement at DreamLeague Season 20 and another third-place triumph at Riyadh Masters 2023, securing a substantial $1,700,000 USD in prize money. However, their momentum waned, culminating in a 9th-12th finish at TI12.

The departure of Mikoto, who showcased stellar performances and earned the MVP title at Riyadh Masters 2023, raises questions about Aurora's future dynamics. The seasoned Armel, adapting techniques acquired during his European venture, aims to fill this void and elevate the team's gameplay.

As the team embarks on this new chapter, the absence of their former coach, Lee "SunBhie" Jeong-jae, adds an air of uncertainty. Whether he will guide them to victory once more remains to be seen, adding an extra layer of intrigue to Aurora's evolving narrative in the competitive Dota 2 arena. The stage is set for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, and all eyes are on Aurora's revamped roster as they strive for triumph in the upcoming season.
