Evil Geniuses has unfortunately hit with a wave of layoffs, impacting multiple former employees. These developments have been widely reported by those who were affected, shedding light on the turmoil within EG.

Among those confirming their layoffs are prominent figures like Antonia Bonello, who held the role of global creative director, Josue Ramos, a graphic designer, and John Jung, who served as the vice president of operations and studio. The list of affected employees goes beyond these names.

John Jung took to Twitter, extending his best wishes to all those who found themselves laid off today, implying that more cutbacks within EG could be on the horizon. Kevin Hitt, an esports reporter from the Sports Business Journal, has highlighted these layoffs, suggesting that they may encompass several teams.

In a revealing post, an LCS data scientist, also affected by the layoffs, disclosed that approximately 20 individuals within the organization faced the same fate. Remarkably, this isn't the first time EG has undergone staff reductions. Reports indicate that this is the third round of layoffs the organization has faced in the past year. The earlier cutbacks targeted the business and marketing department in December 2022 and included several managerial positions in March.

Notably, senior director of gaming and performance, Lindsey "GamerDoc" Migliore, made a significant change to her LinkedIn page by marking a "work stoppage date." Furthermore, Migliore has severed her ties with EG on her Twitter account. These actions suggest a significant shift within the organization.

EG's situation mirrors the challenges faced by other prominent esports organizations such as 100 Thieves and TSM, which have also resorted to staff layoffs this year. The esports industry as a whole has been grappling with revenue issues in recent years.

EG's reputation has taken a hit over the past year due to allegations of player mistreatment in its League division and reports of a "contract jail" affecting the reigning world champion VALORANT roster. These challenges have contributed to the turbulent times the organization is currently experiencing.
