Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 Round 2 qualifiers have come to a close with a startling announcement from Krafton, the tournament's organizer. A total of 54 teams have been disqualified from the competition, sending shockwaves through the gaming community. Notably, Krafton previously disqualified 155 teams from the tournament for the same reason.

Krafton Disqualifies Additional 54 More Teams From BGIS 2023 For Breaking Rules

The reasons behind these disqualifications are rooted in the rampant issues of cheating and rule violations that marred the online qualifiers. With over 2000 teams vying for a spot in Round 2, fierce competition was expected. However, some teams resorted to unfair practices, including the use of hacks and cheating software during the qualifying matches. This behavior not only undermines the spirit of fair play but also tarnished the reputation of the tournament.

In response to growing concerns within the BGIS community, Krafton India Esports took swift and decisive action against teams that violated the tournament's rules. The rulebook, meticulously crafted to ensure fair competition, was strictly enforced. Notably, sections 4.1 and 6.2.4 of the BGIS 2023 rulebook played a pivotal role in these disqualifications.

Section 4.1 - Player Equipment: The rulebook explicitly states that players may only participate in tournaments using mobile phones or approved handheld devices. The use of peripheral devices, such as tablets, adapters, controllers, Bluetooth keyboards, and mice, without written approval from tournament officials is strictly prohibited. Additionally, the use of emulators to play on non-handheld devices, like PCs, is unequivocally forbidden.

Section 6.2.4 - Ringing: Another critical rule addresses the practice of "ringing," which involves playing under another player's account or gamertag or encouraging someone else to do so. Such actions undermine the authenticity of the competition and have severe consequences.

Furthermore, Krafton took an additional step by banning 27 more teams for rule violations, though specific reasons for these bans were not disclosed. The message is clear: cheating and rule-breaking will not be tolerated.

Despite the disqualifications, the show goes on. The BGIS 2023 marches forward with Round 3 set to commence on September 14th, featuring 256 teams. Among them are the top 32 teams from BGIS 2023 The Grind and 224 teams from Round 2. This round promises to be intense, with well-known teams like Team Soul, Team GodLike, Orangutan, and others ready to battle for supremacy.
