In a groundbreaking development, India is set to send a 15-member eSports contingent to compete in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. This momentous occasion marks the official debut of eSports as a medal event, firmly establishing its position in the mainstream sports scene. With the event scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 28, 2023, eSports will have a well-deserved platform to showcase its prowess.

India to Compete in Four Titles in the Asian Games 2023

The Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 will feature seven official competitive-gaming titles, each with its dedicated publisher. These titles include Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition - Mobile Asian Games Version, FIFA Online 4, League of Legends, and PUBG. India's eSports athletes will be participating in four of these titles - FIFA Online 4, Street Fighter V, League of Legends, and Dota 2.

The Indian contingent boasts a talented group of professional players across various eSports disciplines. In DOTA 2, the team will be led by the capable captain, Darshan, accompanied by Abhishek, Shubham Krish, and Ketan. For FIFA Online 4, the team will be represented by Charanjot Singh and Karman Singh Tikka. Ayan Biswas and Mayank Prajapati will showcase their skills in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. The League of Legends team, led by Akshaj Shenoy, features Samarth Arvind Trivedi, Mihir Ranjan, Aditya Selvaraj, Aakash Shandilya, and Sanindhya Malik.

However, it is worth noting that the anticipated participation of Shikhar Choudhary and Karthik Varma in Hearthstone has been canceled due to the removal of this title from the Asian Games esports program in March. Despite this setback, the Indian contingent remains determined and focused on their respective games, aiming to achieve glory in the virtual arena.

As the countdown begins for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, the world eagerly awaits the captivating display of eSports talent. The Indian eSports contingent, consisting of highly skilled players, is ready to transform their dreams into reality on this grand stage. The nation is encouraged to rally behind these athletes and be a part of their incredible journey.
