The decision to remove Paraíso and the Antarctic Peninsula was prompted by critical bugs that disrupted gameplay. In Paraíso, a glitch enabled Mercy players to manipulate the frame rates of all players on the server, leading to an unfair advantage. Similarly, on the Antarctic Peninsula map, a bug involving Genji's ability allowed players to freeze their ultimate animation indefinitely, adversely affecting the overall frame rate of the lobby.

While the precise cause of the Peninsula bug remains unclear, it is believed to have similarities to the infamous Genji "Pet Dragon" bug. Players found a series of movements at the spawn point that triggered the glitch, causing the Genji blade to linger indefinitely on their screens. The detrimental impact on frame rates raised concerns about potential issues on other maps as well.

In light of these challenges, the developers are committed to resolving the bugs and implementing necessary changes. While no specific timeline has been provided, Blizzard Entertainment aims to rectify the performance issues in Paraíso and the Antarctic Peninsula maps, as well as prevent similar occurrences on other maps.

Furthermore, the announcement has sparked anticipation among players about forthcoming modifications to the Gibraltar map. Although details are scarce at the moment, the promise of map changes signifies Blizzard Entertainment's dedication to enhancing the Overwatch 2 gaming experience. Fans eagerly await further updates regarding the planned alterations to Gibraltar, hoping for an engaging and refined gameplay environment.
