CSGO Paris Major 2023  Quarterfinals: Vitality vs ITB Recap

In Map Veto, ITB opted to remove Nuke from the pool, while Vitality eliminated Ancient. With the first two maps off the table, ITB decided to pick Vertigo as their battlefield of choice, while Vitality went for Anubis. Vitality then eliminated Inferno, and ITB removed Overpass, leaving Mirage as the final map that could potentially come into play.

Map No. 1: Vertigo

The first map Vertigo commenced with ITB taking an early lead, showcasing its prowess and securing a comfortable 5-2 advantage. However, Vitality refused to back down, mounting a fierce comeback led by the formidable duo of Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen. These two players tirelessly fought for dominance, contributing to Vitality's resurgence on the scoreboard. Despite ITB's initial advantage, the first half concluded with a 9-6 lead in favor of ITB.

However, the halftime break seemed to invigorate Team Vitality, as it unleashed a relentless assault on ITB's defenses. Emil "Magisk" Reif delivered a pivotal triple kill, leveling the score at 11-11. Spurred on by their momentum, Vitality's Spinx then delivered a stunning quad kill, allowing the team to seize control of the A-site. ITB struggled to mount a solid defense, and Vitality capitalized on its opponents' weaknesses. With unwavering determination, Vitality claimed victory on Vertigo with a final score of 16-11.

Map No. 2: Anubis

Heading into the second map, Anubis, Vitality aimed to maintain its winning streak and secure a spot in the semifinals. Although ITB showed resilience, Team Vitality won the pistol round on the T side, providing an early advantage. However, ITB swiftly retaliated, building a 5-2 lead against its adversaries. The match mirrored the pattern established on Vertigo, with both teams trading rounds back and forth.

As the first half progressed, Team Vitality rallied behind the indomitable spirit of dupreeh and ZywOo. Despite a valiant effort from Joey "CRUC1AL" Steusel of ITB to even the score at 9-9, Vitality proved too formidable. Their coordinated assaults overwhelmed ITB's defenses, resulting in a final score of 16-12 in favor of Team Vitality on Anubis.
