In the upcoming mid-scope update, Riot Games is set to breathe new life into Rell, the tank support champion who has struggled to find favor among players. With a meager 1.3 percent pick rate among supports in League of Legends' Patch 13.9, Rell has been in need of some attention. Fortunately, Riot developers have addressed this and overhauled her ability set with the upcoming mid-scope update.

LoL Mid-Scope Update: Rell’s Revamped Abilities

The forthcoming update aims to overhaul Rell's abilities, granting her greater reliability in starting fights and unlocking her playmaking potential. Following are all the ability changes coming to Rell in the upcoming update.

Passive – Break the Mold

Rell's passive ability Break the Mold is set to undergo significant changes. Each attack and ability from Rell will now steal three percent of an enemy's armor and magic resist, accumulating up to a maximum of 15 percent for each category. Notably, Rell will retain the stolen resistances for the full duration of the buff, even if the targeted enemy perishes.

Q – Shattering Strike

Rell's Q ability Shattering Strike will no longer provide self or allied healing, but instead, it will stun targets for 0.75 seconds, destroy shields, and inflict 250 (+50 percent AP) magic damage. The newfound power of Shattering Strike will be particularly noticeable against jungle monsters, where it will deal an impressive 250 percent increased damage. However, the cooldown will also slightly increased and the cast time will be extended by 0.15 seconds, requiring strategic timing for optimal usage.

W – Ferromancy: Crash Down

Rell's W ability Ferromancy: Crash Down will witness changes in multiple aspects. After leaping off her mount, Rell will knock up enemies for 0.75 seconds while gaining a shield and bonus armor and magic resist. However, the AP damage and shield strength will be slightly reduced, along with changes to the distance, radius, and duration of the knockup effect. Conversely, it will empower her with increased damage against jungle camps, enabling her to explore the jungler role.

E – Full Tilt

Rell's E ability Full Tilt will receive a significant overhaul with a new passive and active effect. The passive Mounted Alacrity will grant Rell a 50 movement speed boost while mounted. The active effect Full Tilt will provide Rell and a linked ally with up to 20 percent movement speed for three seconds. This speed boost amplifies to 40 percent when moving towards enemies or the linked ally. Additionally, Rell's next attack or Shattering Strike will cause a targeted area explosion, inflicting magic damage based on ability power and a percentage of maximum health.

While the exact release date of the mid-scope update is yet to be announced, the development team is committed to make Rell a viable option as a frontline tank to play in the game. As Rell receives these significant adjustments, it will be interesting to see how players utilize her in her new set.
