Apex Legends fans can look forward to a new and improved Ranked system with the upcoming Season 17: Arsenal. Respawn Entertainment has listened to community feedback and announced a variety of changes that aim to improve the competitive integrity of the game. The overhaul includes a new scoring system, ladder points, and changes to the ranked structure. With a focus on evolving matchmaking and emphasizing team play, the changes promise to make for a more consistently competitive and fair experience for all players.

Apex Legends Season 17 To Offer Consistently Competitive Matches

Respawn Entertainment has announced major changes to Apx Legends Ranked mode with the arrival of the upcoming season of the game Season 17: Arsenal. These changes have been in demand from the community for several seasons and aim to improve the game's competitive integrity. The changes to Ranked are designed to achieve two main objectives: evolving matchmaking to enable consistently competitive matches and adjusting the scoring system to focus on playing as a team.

One significant change is to the matchmaking algorithm, which previously grouped players based on their rank and specific Ranked Points (RP) range. However, this system was inaccurate and did not help in making matches fair for players. The new matchmaking algorithm, therefore, will group players in Ranked based on a hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) to create matches with people in similar party builds. This system prioritizes match fairness more than its predecessor and ensures that players are matched with others of similar skill levels.

Apex LegendsTo Introduce New Scoring System

In addition, the previous scoring system in Ranked Points (RP) has been overhauled to incorporate Ladder Points (LP). The new Ranked system offers Bonuses to players that increase players' LP gains and reduces their LP losses. The bonuses are earned and not guaranteed, and the focus is on prioritizing placements in the game.

  • Elimination Bonuses: When players eliminate their opponents, they receive Elimination Bonuses. The bonus amount is calculated individually and eliminates any multiple eliminations against the same player. Players’ personal individual kills, assists, and participations are taken into account while calculating these bonuses.
  • Rating Bonuses: Rating Bonuses are awarded to players whose hidden MMR significantly exceeds their Ladder Points, enabling them to close the gap to where the system believes they should be.
  • Skill Bonuses: Skill Bonuses are granted to teams who face a superior adversary or perform exceptionally well in an unfavorable game.

The Ranked structure has also been changed, with the removal of Ranked splits and a reset of the player's rank with the onset of a new season. The between two ranks has been set to 1000 LP per division, and the Promotion Bonus has been decreased from 300 to 250 LP. The demotion penalty has been lowered from deducting half of the division points to 150 LP. Moreover, players will now also be demoted to the Rookie rank. Furthermore, the minimum level required to participate in Ranked games has been raised from Level 20 to 50.
